here comes the snow..

I have been told that many people become lazy in the winter, but I never thought that I was that kind of person... But apparently I am. I have yet to start a painting or sketch my next project for silkscreen. BUT I finally did something the other day!!

I took my mom's 1982 Minolta 35mm camera and went outside wearing her 90's parka in 20 degree weather and took pictures!! Awhile ago I saw this abandoned gas station stained with rust on the sides and took pictures of it. Then I took my film to Walgreens (because shocker I was too lazy to develop it myself) to get developed.. Turns out the film I used can't be commercially developed so my film got destroyed.

So this time I have color film left over from my Photography class and took pictures of the same gas station but then found another abandoned gas station!! It was amazing! The paint on the outside was pealing. The roof was caved in. The glass on the doors was broken. I thought it was the best discovery ever!

Now I need to get those developed and hopefully these pictures turn out. Later I will post how they are!

a few of my favorite things....

Since this is my first post I wanted to tell everyone a little about myself.. I am a third year Fine Art student at the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Technically I am graduating next year but have no clue what I plan on doing with my life.. which is terrifying.

Being in school has really helped my artwork because every project I have to do helps me figure how my likes and dislikes. It is also helping me discover what I might want to do and not do.

After taking a photography class I realized that I absolutely love exploring in abandoned places. I decided to do my photography project on trains. At first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find trains or it wouldn’t be safe. But the finding the trains were the best part!!! Here are some examples from that project...

After taking two life drawing classes I realized that I love drawing the human body. The way the body moves and all of the muscles to form the body. It makes me want to do something that involves the body. Here are some examples from those classes...

My first painting class was terrifying because it was this year and I haven’t painted since senior year in high school. Also I have never used oil before which was a crazy experience!! Here is my final painting from that class (also my favorite!!)....

Throughout my blog I hope to show you more of what I am doing this quarter!!
