painting

 For my painting studio we have 6 paintings that are due by the end of the quarter. I have started 3, finished 0, and have 5 weeks left. For the first two paintings we are to mimic a contemporary figurative painter's style and technique. I have started both of those!

The first painter I chose is Mercedes Helnwein. I like her style because I thought it resembled my style. However I never thought that it would be so hard to do two eyes. Here is her style...

 The first quick study I did for this painting is 8 x 10. I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before I jumped into the larger painting. I obviously need to go darker and fix the face.

Next I went larger. This painting is 22 x 30. As you can see I'm afraid to put in my eyes.

After another frustrating day, I only got one eye done. This is my painting in my cubby.

Hopefully, I will finish this painting soon! I will post later about it!
